Two peasants from Kārļakalns manor in Alūksne parish in their winter dress, namely in fur coats trimmed with white and black fur, over which they have put on coats of vadmal [coarse fulled homespun woollen cloth] sewn with red cords. On the coat of the first peasant are stitched in places variegated, round woollen tassels. The pastalas [one-piece leather shoes] are either of tanned leather or with the hairy side turned outward.
