On St John’s Eve the common folk are accustomed to adorn themselves with wreaths and also decorate their cattle; Latvian women with wreaths on their heads dance in the streets of the suburbs, sing folk songs, go from house to house, scatter flowers, and place wreaths on the heads of the inhabitants.
