A 1984 film by Jüri Tallinn. Veljo Tormis' "Epic of Isurimaa" contains epic and lyrical folk songs in the ancient runic song form common to the Baltic Finns. The stylistic features and performance practices characteristic of the runic song have been preserved and highlighted in these arrangements. The translated reader's part allows the work to be performed in the original language - the Soikala dialect of the Izhur language. The choral work "Epic of Isurimaa" will be performed by the State Philharmonic Chamber Choir under the direction of Tõnu Kaljuste.
