The film about the Perm Komi was shot in September 2008 in the Perm Krai, Perm district of Russia, mainly in its capital, Kudymkar, and nearby villages. Through interviews and scenes from everyday life, the film documents the current economic and cultural situation in the Perm Komi settlement, which is one of the poorest regions in the European part of Russia. It explores what it means to be a Perm Komi in contemporary Russia.

ERMi teaduri Indrek Jäätsi film räägib etnilisest identiteedist, assimileerumisest ja rahvuspoliitikast tänapäeva Venemaal ühe soome-ugri rahva näitel. Permikomidest kõnelev film võeti üles 2008. aasta septembris Venemaal Permi krais Permikomi ringkonnas – peamiselt selle pealinnas Kudõmkaris ning lähikonna külades. Intervjuude ja argielustseenide kaudu dokumenteerib film praegust majanduslikku ja kultuurilist olukorda permikomide asualal, mis kuulub Venemaa Euroopa-osa vaeseimate piirkondade hulka. Uuritakse, mida tähendab olla permikomi tänapäeva Venemaal.
