Folk music researcher Zoltán Juhász reports on his study of 50,000 melodies from 50 musical cultures. He said that during his research, he first identified those melody line types whose variants occur in multiple cultures at once. First, he and his colleagues searched for groups among these melody line types that are common in multiple musical cultures at once.
